Fallout 4 Is Announced!

So after an anxious 24 hours watching the Fallout website tick down patiently, the announcement is finally here: Fallout 4 is coming!

Brace yourself for the most epic trailer of the decade and a game that sure to follow suit.

Although the pre-order options are listed, it seems that both Game and Amazon don’t have Fallout 4 available for pre-order just yet. Watch this space.

The Awesome Fallout 4 Trailer

So without further ado, here is the epic trailer we’ve all been waiting for:

The trailer is 3 minutes long and packed with awesome visuals and teasers, but so far doesn’t tell us a great deal about the game itself. Here are my speculations about the game:

  • Boston is almost certainly the location, making a nice change from the west coast settings of the previous two games.
  • The player character appears to be a Vault Dweller, with one shot showing the door of Vault 111 opening and player climbing out into the bright sunshine. This is reminiscent of Fallout 3 and is in my opinion a much better background the the Courier we played as in New Vegas.
  • The Brotherhood of Steel appears to be back, with an impressive Power Armour suit shown in a somewhat destroyed garage.
  • Visually the game looks much brighter and more colourful than either of the last two games. The trailer shows the wasteland as dishevelled but without the overwhelming use of dark and dreary colours. The environment feels much more vibrant, while still being true to the post-apocalyptic world we’re accustomed to.
  • Companions are back, unsurprisingly. The dog in the trailer looks almost certain to be the game’s equivalent of Fallout 3’s Dogmeat or New Vegas’ Rex .
